قال محمد بن جعفر: ومات ابن الأنبارى فلم نجد من تصنيفه إلا شيئا يسيرا؛ وذلك أنه إنما كان يملى من حفظه. وقد أملى كتاب غريب الحديث، قيل إنه خمس وأربعون ألف ورقة.
